In this post, I’ll share three easy tips that you can use to up your SEO game and improve your website’s search rankings. Let’s go!

Do more keyword research

Keyword research is one of the most important parts of SEO. You need to know what your customers are searching for and how your website ranks for those searches. Keyword research is also a good way to brainstorm new words and phrases that might be relevant to your business. Getting started with keyword research is easy. Here’s how:

  1. Start making a list of all the keywords you can think of. Start with current keywords for your website, services your business provides, goods your business sells, and anything else that comes to mind when thinking about your business. These will be your seed keywords.

  2. Next you want to expand your search and begin to find other keywords that pertain to your business but might be less competitive to rank for. Using a Keyword Research Tool or Google Search, type in each of your Seed Keywords and see if you come across any additional keywords that are a good fit for you.

  3. Finally, you’re going to narrow down your list to 5-8 keywords that have the perfect blend of low-competition and high revenue potential. Using a Keyword Research Tool such as Moz or SEMRush, you can type in your keywords and evaluate each for competition level and revenue potential. High-competition keywords have lots of high rankings, but can be tough to break into. We’ll save those for later. When you have your perfect list of keywords, you’re on to the next step.

Create amazing Content around your keywords

Your keywords are your idea-generators for amazing content! Now that you have your keywords, you need to create content pieces around them and post them to your site. Your content can be updated copy on your website pages, blog posts, or new website pages that you create. When creating your content, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

  1. Make sure your content includes your keyword it is written for (without going overboard). Include your keyword in the title tag and throughout the content where it fits naturally.

  2. Make sure your content flows and is easy for anyone to read. Usability is an important characteristic for Google when ranking search results. Making content that is easy to follow and understand will make your content much more useable.

  3. Include links to other relevant pages/areas of your site in your content. Including local links in your content can give a boost to other areas of your site as well. Don’t include links to other pages just because though. Only include links to relevant pages that flow with the content.

Finding keywords and creating content are two of the most important pieces of SEO. It gives you an opportunity to improve your search rankings and improve your content creation skills. Like anything else, optimizing for SEO takes time and practice, so start with those low-competition keywords and then you can work your way up to higher-competition keywords when you’re making better content and your site is ranking higher and getting a steady stream of visitors. Happy SEOing!
